Cowley Islet
Cowley Islet is a small islet off the coast of Isabela, named after Ambrose Cowley, the English buccaneer who drew one of the first charts of the Galápagos in 1684 and gave many of the islands their first English names.
There is no landing. The islet is explored by panga and in the water, and it is a good site for both diving and snorkeling. Sea lions, green sea turtles, stingrays and manta rays are common, several species of sharks pass by, and Galápagos penguins may be seen around the rocks. On the bottom, sponges and corals add color, and with luck you may find a seahorse.
Today Cowley Islet is visited mainly on some dive itineraries.
