La Banana, Wolf: a curved vertical wall with tunnels and caverns, where Galápagos sharks, hammerheads and manta rays pass. For experienced divers.
About the site
La Banana is a dive site at Wolf Island, named after the curved shape of its rock wall. The wall drops almost vertically from about 9 to 37 meters (30 to 120 feet), and it is cut by tunnels and caverns that are worth a look on the way down.
Galápagos sharks and hammerheads are the main attraction, often joined by manta rays, eagle rays and green turtles, and from about June to November by whale sharks. Dolphins, schools of jacks and barracuda and moray eels in the cracks of the wall complete the dive.
The currents are moderate to heavy, there can be strong surge and the visibility depends on the season, so La Banana is for experienced divers.
Like all the dive sites of Wolf, it can only be visited on liveaboard dive cruises.
