About the site

Osborn Islet

Osborn Islet is a small rocky islet off the north coast of Española, near Gardner Bay, visited by panga for snorkeling and swimming. It is one of the most colorful snorkeling sites in the south of the archipelago.

The clear water around the islet is full of reef fish: schools of yellow-tailed surgeonfish, parrotfish, king angelfish and damselfish swim over the rocks, and sea lions from the colony on Gardner Bay often come to play with the swimmers. Sea turtles, stingrays and white-tipped reef sharks are also common.

The visit is usually part of the same morning or afternoon as Gardner Bay. Snorkeling at Osborn is generally calm and suitable for most swimmers, but follow your guide's instructions, as conditions change with the swell, and a wetsuit is useful from June to November.
