About the site
Shark Bay Point is the dive that made Wolf Island famous, and one of the best places in the Galápagos to see schools of scalloped hammerheads. The sharks gather off the point, where the current brings food and cleaner fish wait for them, and divers settle on the rocky bottom to watch them pass, sometimes by the dozen.
Galápagos sharks and silky sharks are almost always around, and from about June to November whale sharks may glide by. Bottlenose dolphins often appear, green turtles rest on the rocks, and eagle rays, moray eels and great schools of jacks, snappers and barracuda fill the water.
The surge is heavy close to the rocks, the currents can be strong and the visibility changes with the season, so this is a dive for experienced divers.
Shark Bay can only be visited on liveaboard dive cruises, together with The Landslide and the other sites of Wolf.
