What a June cruise is like

In June the cool season begins. The ocean currents bring cooler water, rich in food, around 23 °C (74 °F) at first, and the trade winds return with misty mornings, the garúa, and livelier seas. Days are pleasant, about 20–26 °C (68–78 °F), with very little rain in the lowlands.

What you can see from the yacht in June

Humpback whales begin to pass through Galápagos waters.
On North Seymour, male frigatebirds inflate their red throat pouches to attract the females.
On Santa Cruz, giant tortoises move down from the highlands to their nesting areas.
Seabirds gather to feed at sea, and from June to November whale sharks visit Darwin and Wolf.

Is June a good month for a Galápagos cruise?

Yes. The cool season brings more marine life and great seabird activity, with pleasant temperatures. The sea is livelier, so bring seasickness remedies if you need them.

How far ahead should I book a cruise for June?

From the second half of June the northern summer holidays begin and the islands get busier. For late June, and above all if you travel with family, book six to twelve months ahead.
